This gorgeous authentic Log Cabin is located right on the South Fork of the Platte River, just 15 minutes from Breckenridge. The cabin consists of two pre-Civil War hand hewn log cabins, one from Tennessee and one from Mississippi that are joined together by a “Colorado” cabin which holds the furnace, one bathroom and acts as a hallway connecting the two cabins. Two porches overlook the South Fork of the Platte River which runs through the 5 acre property. The back of the home overlooks the white-capped peak of Mt. Bross— one of Colorado’s famous 14’ers. The main cabin has a large living room with a wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen and dining area opens to this room and fireplace as well. Upstairs are two bedrooms. Both have queen beds and are very roomy and comfortable. One has a wood-burning fireplace. There is a full bath between the bedrooms with a Jetta Tub. The “Colorado” cabin has a full bathroom with a tub and a shower. The “Mississippi” Cabin, made of large heart of poplar logs, is the master bedroom and bathroom. The master bath has a multi-jetted shower. The laundry room is also in this cabin. Upstairs, there is a loft with 3 single beds and one double bed. There is also a desk in the office area. The cabin (s) are heated with an in-floor system regulated by thermostat throughout the cabins. Generally 65 degrees will keep the cabins comfortable. Three ceramic heather are in the cabins to take the chill off the bathrooms and to quickly bring up the temperature in the living room. The home is furnished in authentic cabin furniture found over several years and brought to Colorado. Cozy, comfortable, and quiet describes “Living under the name of Trespassers Wil”. If you know your Winnie the Pooh stories, you know that piglet’s house was marked by the sign Trespassers W, which stood for Trespassers Wil, a relative so Winnie the Pooh was living under the name of Trespassers Wil too. The cabin has all of the modern amenities including satellite television. This is one of the most desirable areas around Breckenridge because you can still ski, stay in a secluded home and dine in Breckenridge within 15 minutes. The views of the white-capped mountains are beautiful. There are at least 4 14-er’s within sight of the back of the house. Trespassers Wil is far enough away from the crowd to be secluded and private but close enough to get to the skiing, sites, restaurants, supplies, etc. nearby. In winter, (4 wheel drive is recommended), there's Breckenridge world class skiing within 15 minutes. Numerous other ski venues (Copper Mtn., Keystone, Vail, Monarch, Ski Cooper) are within another 1/2 an hour. Other winter activities nearby include cross country skiing, snow-mobiling. During the summer, there's white water rafting, hiking, ATV trails, biking, fishing, hunting, and camping. You can relax and just enjoy the natural beauty or head out to the nearby towns/resorts/parks, and enjoy the unlimited winter and summer activities the area has to offer. In the summer you will be in the center of all activities including old mine ruins, Montgomery Reservoir, Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Bross, Mt. Quandry and many more. Fairplay (just 10 miles away) is the activity center of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and is often referred to as the Base Camp for all activities some of which include hiking, mountain climbing, horseback riding, ice climbing, fishing, hunting, rafting, 4-wheeling, ATVing, mine exploring, canoeing, kayaking, and much much more. Alma is only 5 minutes away and offers dining, shopping, and entrances to some of the most beautiful drives in Colorado such as Kite Lake, Bristlecone Pines, and Mosquito Pass, and the trailheads to many of the famous fourteeners. If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. It is a great home to call your "Base Camp". This is a beautiful home to spend any season of the year. The access is easy and 4-wheel drive is not a in the summer but is recommended in the winter months.
